Entertainers

WATCH FOR OUR SCHEDULE TO BE POSTED - to help you decide your activities for the weekend. Once we have it all in place - we will post daily activities under "schedule". Thank you for your patience.

Have heard I have confused some people. In the Roxy Theatre there is a Variety Show and several of the entertainers are taking part in this Variety Show. Therefore, it looks like there is some overlapping. I have now added (Variety Show) to those taking part. Hope this helps you out.

Woodwind Quintet - performing Friday, July 23rd - 10AM- 11AM, and again Friday Noon - 1PM.
A 5 piece woodwind ensemble which performs a wide array of diverse repertoire, both classic and popular. A fairly rigorous group, whose dynamic range can perform formal, bold fanfares - and quiet whispers in melody. SORRY THIS IS CANCELLED AS OF JUNE 4TH. I THINK THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO OUR LINE OF ENTERTAINMENT. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND NEXT YEAR.

After receiving a fisher-price magic set for Christmas from Santa, Anders was hooked. Who would have thought that a toy could influence one's career choice? Today, he still plays with toys but now he calls them "magic props". Anders is proud to be a part of this year's Lily Festival. Come out and watch him "play".

MacKenzie Road - performing in the Lily Lounge Friday, July 23rd, 2010- 6 PM - 9 PM

John, Teena and Sue formed Sibling Harmony in 2003 and in May, 2009, they became McKenzie Road. Since their beginnings, they've had the opportunity to perform at the Winnipeg Stadium, made appearances on TV and were able to play in Mazatland, MX for the last 3 years.
Most recently, McKenzie Road entered the Colgate Country Showdown, the largest country music talent search in America. After winning the local and state finals, they advanced to the Midwest Regional Finals where they placed 4th. This puts them in the top 20 for the nation. Their success in the Colgate Country Showdown increased their website hits, afforded them radio play and lead to TV interviews.
John, Teena and Sue have that unique blend of voices that only happens between siblings.

Doug & Jess Band - Bluegrass - performing in the Lily Lounge Friday, July 23, 2010 9 PM to Midnight.
The Doug and Jess Band are from Winnipeg where they have made an extraordinary splash in the folk and bluegrass scene.
The Doug and Jess Band have all of the essential musical ingredients that combine into an excellent presentation of roots music in the Bluegrass, Folk and Old Time genres.
Listening to Doug and Jess it becomes instantly obvious that they have absorbed all the fine traditions of the music and instead of simply repeating what many others have done, they have taken the music to a new level by creating new modern works within the framework of the tradiion,
"It's like new wine in old bottles, " says award winning designer Michael Wrycraft. "I don't know anybody who does this better" continued Wrycraft, "it has the feel of the old times like the Carter Family, but it's almost all brand new songs".

Patsy and Hank bring to today, the great melodies of yesterday.

With their voices sharing lead and harmony, smooth guitar work by Hank and the "rootsy" sounds of Patsy's fiddle and mandolin, Patsy and Hank breathe new life into historical and roots music.

Cheryl Gaudet - performing in the Lily Lounge Sunday, July 25th, Noon - 2:00 pm.
Canadian singer-songwriter is one of those unique artists who balance integrity and surprise without apology. Her music offers a tasty blend of "rthythm and roots". Reflecting early influences by The Beatles, Neil Young and James Taylor the songs are organic and carefully crafted with a confident, stripped-down sound that is fresh yet comfortingly familiar. She delivers clever lyrics with warm, dynamic vocals and her signature gutsy rhythm acoustic guitar style. She is from Halifax, NS and we are delighted to have her stop at the Lily Festival on her tour across Canada.

Rollin Penner and the Traveling Medicine Show - performing in the Lily Lounge - Sunday 2pm. - 4pm.
Rollin Penner and the Traveling Medicine Show was described in a feature article in The Winnipeg Free Press recently as an "alt/folk/country/comedy" band, but even that description does not fully capture the variety of influences heard in thier astonishingly eclectic live shows.
Mixed in with their wonderfully "Manitoban" originals and their great covers of classic Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Great Lakes Swimmers tunes, are hidden gems from Mica Blue Smaldone and Tim Hardin, the truly hilarious parodies of songs by artists as diverse as Simon and Garfunkle, Joni Mitchell, Randy Van Warmer and Willie Nelson. For the past two years The Traveling Medicine Show comprised of Rollin Penner, Brett Penner and John Gosselin has been making a name for itself with it's sparkling instruments and exceptional vocal harmonies, playing to standing ovations in venues across the province.
Rollin Penner's background as a comedian adds tremendous humour to their live shows. Songs from their debut album "This and That" are in regular rotation on Manitoba radio stations.
