Renee Delaurier-Jones and Brenda Rogers merged two solo projects into a musical journey.  They bring additional instruments to the guitar such as violin, mandolin and banjo.

For over four decades Bill and Sue-on Hillman have been Canada's most prolific "Indie" recording act, having  produced a multitude of music releases in all formats:  vinyl LPs, 45s, cassette, 8-track, film, TV and radio, video, CD, DVD, MP3 and Web downloads.  The Hillman's have juggled recording and live performances with their other careers as restaurateurs and full-time university educators.  Their performance tours have taken them to the US and England and to countless venues across the Canadian prairies from Ontario to BC, military bases, concert halls, rodeos, universities, barn dances, high schools, churches, casinos, fairs and exhibitions, grandstands, arenas, bars, socials, etc.  Summer festivals have expanded this eclectic mix even further: rock 'n' roll, blues, folk, Oktoberfest, gospel, cowboy poetry, bluegrass, Celtic and reunions.   Son Robin has, in recent years, joined his parents, doubling on bass guitar and drums.  The Hillman's have often invited other musician friends to join them for various events.  For the 2009 Lily Festival Cabaret, two top Brandon musicians, including keyboardist Kenny Jarvin will be added to the roster.

An amazing dog show from Winnipeg which involves dogs performing a series of acrobatic manoeuvres as they catch frisbees thrown by their owners.  A family oriented event.

Audiences everywhere are energized by Fubuki Daiko's (Blizzard Drums) high-powered style of Japanese drumming.  The group's North American roots push the envelope of tradition to create a truly eclectic experience that is part martial arts, part meditation and all rhythm.

For Hiroshi Koshiyama, Naomi Guilbert and Bruce Robertson, taiko is not just a performance art form but a way of life.  Performing, training and teaching year-round, each member has over ten years of taiko experience including four years of traditional Japanese apprenticeship under the watchful and highly critical eye of Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka, founder of the San Francisco Taiko Dojo and the father of North American taiko.

 

On The Edge

This group is a vocal/instrumental quartet which has enjoyed performing a unique blend of Celtic, folk and bluegrass music, for the past fourteen years.  Variety is their trademark, as they mix vocals with instruments ranging from guitars and recorders, flutes to piano and a near antique accordion affectionately dubbed "the beast".  The members are Bill and Mariette Howatt, who farm near Manitou, and Al and Loretta Thorleifson, who teach in Manitou and Winkler, respectively.  They have appeared on stage at numerous summer festivals and fairs in the province, as well as traveling to Grand Forks for occasional engagements.  They are frequently invited to entertain at banquets and community functions, and are also part of the Manitou Coffehouse Musicians, who are proud to present coffeehouses twice a month throughout the winter.  They enjoy performing and have been featured over the past few years at the Winkler Harvest Festival, the Gathering of the Nations, the Cripple Creek Bluegrass Festival and at many other events.

Slim Chance

Slim Chance is a traditional bluegrass band from Manitoba's Interlake area.  Formed in August of 2006, Slim Chance has entertained at a variety of events and venues.  Members consist of Joe Coumont (banjo), Harry McKay (guitar), John Sawatzky (mandolin) and Harvey Basler (bass).  They strive to bring traditional bluegrass music to their listeners - with music at their fingertips.

Roger Hurst

A Junior High School teacher for 38 years in Winnipeg and Virden.  He has been playing music since he was 4 years old.  He now has 8 years classical piano and 6 years of music theory.  He has assisted with music at the Scottish Pavilion at the Winter Festival in Brandon.

His quote - "Life is like a piano, what you get out of it, depends on how you play it".

HeartBreakers

A four piece band out of Brandon.  A great group that is very busy performing at outdoor functions, weddings and social events.  Your country and country rock connection.

Prairie Sunshine

A fabulous group with a huge repertoire of familiar favorites.  The piano player is second to none. A violin, a banjo, a guitar and vocals fill the rest of the bill.

Stuart Porteous

Three country folk performers out of Winnipeg. Their lyrics will touch your heart and mind. They have a song on the top 40 in the United States.

Eldon Steppers

Eldon's Steppers began Metis Style Square Dance and Jigging in April of 2007.  After six weeks of hard work they made their first public performance at the Kinosota Spring Festival in May and went on to perform at the Asham Stompers Music and Dance Festival that September, Gendreau Personal Care Home,  Mccreary, July 1st Celebrations, Ste Rose Chuckwagon Races and will travel to Churchill in the summer of 2009 to take part in their Cultural Festival.  The group also plays Metis style fiddle under the teachings of Eldon Campbell for whom they are named. Nine of the ten girls can trace their ancestral origins back to James Asham born in 1840 and Caroline Corrigal born in 18422 who had a family of sixteen children.  The dancers are - back row from left to right:  Kaitlyn Ducharme, Andrea Ross, Samantha Ames, Eldon Campbell (Leader and fiddle instructor), Shaylee Ducharme, Jessica Asham, Devon Ross. John Rempel

John grew up on a farm in the Austin area.  He was first introduced to gardening by his mother who was an avid gardener, growing mostly fruit and vegetables. In 1968, John and his wife built a home in Charleswood area of Winnipeg where they still reside.  They have always had a large garden but Johns interest have varied greatly over the years.  For the last 10 years or so his focus has been on growing hardy trumpet lilies.  He now grows most of his own lilies from seed to get new varieties that are hardy to Manitoba.   He is a life member of the Charleswood Garden Club and has held  positions on the board of the Winnipeg Glad and Dahlia Society when it was still in operation. He has been active in the Manitoba Regional Lily Society for the past 10 years and will hold the office of President starting in Aporil 2009.  He worked for the Manitoba Telephone System for 34 years before retiring in 1995.

Alice Kulyk - Artist/Instructor

Alice was born in Poland and immigrated to Winnipeg with her family in the late 50's.  She studied Commerical Art at Red River College and later received training in clay sculpture from several private tutors and workshops at the U of M.  Fine Arts Department.  She's an accomplished artist and has had solo and group exhibitions in Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Brussels, Kiev, Washington, DC and Rome.  Her work is in many private and corporate collections around the world.

Today, Alice loves to teach art to young children in various elementary schools throughout Winnipeg.  Besides, art, Alice has a passion for mushroom picking and is an accomplished and knowledgeable gardener and perennial expert.  Alice's garden has been featured on television on Canadian gardener, Winnipeg in Bloom and Recreating Eden, as well as in magazines like Manitoba Gardener (Beautiful Gardens Edition) and Acreage Life.  Her garden boasts more than 65 peonies, hundreds of perennials, and over 700 lily stems.

Curtis and Bonnie's journeys have taken them from coast to coast, throughout Canada and into the USA, including five extensive Maritime tours.  Together with their five children they have a diverse and captivating ministry, shining Jesus' love in various settings including concerts, children's ministry, conferences, coffee houses, camps, music festival,s etc. Having ministered for more than 10 years, they have discovered that "Home" is wherever they find places to play their music, and willing people to share it with.  During winter months, the family resides in a country house by Carnduff, Saskatchewan.

Manuel Nakonechny and Hans Carlson

Manuel Nakonechny or "Nak" as his friends call him, is an excellent guitar player and singer. He performs traditional and contemporary music.,50's and 60's rock influenced music, as well as Latin and swing.

Hans Carlson is an accomplished accordionist who has recorded and performed with various groups over the years.  Hans plays a midi accordion which produces a great selection of today's keyboard sounds as well as acoustic accordion sounds.

Hans and Nak have built a reputation for transcending musical styles presenting a mix of country, swing, traditional, Latin and rock.

This group has been performing as a group since 1999.  Lori Grandmont,  Bonnie Wallace and Kari Jo Kinley, along with percussionist Reena Lillies perform their unique vocal harmonies, blending a mix of styles that include folk, rock 'n' roll, country and inspirational.  These women are singers/songwriters with a self titled CD released in 2005.  Their ongoing songwriting blends their influences keeping their sound fresh and current.  Along with their original music, they perform selections from a variety of genres that they call "Jukebox Memories".  They perform at coffee houses, conventions, and smaller settings and adds a backup band for summer festivals and larger venues.

 

Half Past Never

Half Past Never is a Brandon based band that consists of Andrew Grossart on keys, Tyler Reimer on drums, Natalie Bohrn on bass and vocals and Dylan Macdonald on guitar and vocals.  All members have been or are currently in CP Express which is a highschool rock band based out of Crocus Plains School.  Although just getting up and running Half Past Never looks forward to some excellent summer gigging and a great show out at the Lily Festival 09!

Bob started folding paper 30 years ago to amuse his daughter.  He was hooked shortly thereafter.  It has become a passion for him!  For the last 25 years he has been teaching origami through the school system, the Winnipeg Library system and through the leisure guide on occasion. He has held workshops at the Winnipeg International Children's Festival for 18 years and is still a volunteer at the Winnipeg Folk Festival for the past 27 years.  Bob has also appeared as a weekly guest on the CKY kids show "S'kiddle Bits" for a number of years.
